Word on the Water – The London Bookbarge

When it comes to buying a new book I’m afraid that I generally buy it on Amazon. I know it’s bad as Amazon will just take over, put everyone else out of business and then hike their prices up but for now I still like to save a few pounds. When it comes to secondhand bookshops however I can happily buy piles of books, many of which I buy just because I like the front cover. I could never read a book on kindle, there is absolutely nothing appealing about that whatsoever. The London Bookbarge eccentrically run by the Captain, the Doctor and the Professor is a secondhand bookshop on a barge which travels between Hackney and Camden on the canals selling donated books. It reminds me of the portable library that would visit local schools when I was a kid, damn I loved that library on wheels. What caught my eye through was just how pretty the barge is. The first time I saw it was in Hackney Wick during the Hackney Wicked festival (which was run by my flatmate at the time, I love how shambolic that festival is). A couple of days ago I spotted it by Broadway Market but it was gone by the next morning as apparently it never stays longer than 2 weeks, such a great thing.

  • I do not even know the way I finished up here, however I thought this put up was once good. I don’t realize who you’re however definitely you’re going to a famous blogger in case you aren’t already. Cheers!

What a great little website you have. I’m not sure how I got here, I think I was virtual-browsing London pubs (a favourite physical-browsing pursuit of mine when I’m not skint or boringly busy), and here I am. Some great articles in here, I shall look out for them when I’m next up London next week.
