St John Bread and Wine – Spitalfields

stjohn3

St.John Bread and Wine is like a sophisticated greasy spoon with a simple, smart and unfussy interior. They serve British food such as porridge with prunes, bacon sandwiches and Eccles cakes, there aren’t many places where you can get Eccles cakes, little buns packed with fruit and covered in flaky pastry, my dad loves them. I always like to order toast with honey though (as they have their own bakery producing top notch bread) and Earl Grey tea, it’s all good stuff my friends. St. John’s is great for dinner too as it’s very much a proper restaurant, although the food is pretty out there, I’m talking sprats, Ox heart and Foie Gras, ooh not sure about a place that serves Foie Gras, I wish I didn’t know that but it has a nice and informal atmosphere and the bread, did I mention how good the bread was?
