Hunter S – De Beauvoir Town

Owned by the same people who run the gorgeous Hemingway pub next to Victoria Park, the Hunter S is another great triumph. It has a lovely atmosphere, dimly lit with plenty of seating and 1920′s music playing at the perfect volume in the background. The food is great, imaginative and features vegetarian options as well thought out as the rest of the menu. I love the decoration despite the fact I’m a vegetarian, as they have a whole farm’s worth of animal heads covering the walls. They’re classy about it though, throwing in a beautiful peacock (originally from Deyrolles in Paris) to the collection. Once again the bathrooms are something to behold, these are a real work of art. I won’t give too much away but I did find myself hanging out there listening to Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in its entirety. It’s a great pub for people watching with a slightly more diluted crowd than some of the Dalston pubs which are hipster to the core. Don’t even bother coming here on a Saturday night without booking though as they get very busy.
