Duck & Waffle – The City

I can’t get enough of the Duck & Waffle, it’s just great. First of all it has the most fantastic view. It’s on the 40th Floor of the Heron Tower opposite Liverpool Street station and the view is pretty much 360 degrees all round. It’s 24 hours and the food is really good. As long as you leave out alcohol it’s not too expensive either. So far I’ve been for breakfast and lunch. It might appear pricey but the portions are pretty generous, I had a seasonal salad and some delicious rosemary and garlic bread which was more than enough. The duck egg en cocotte with wild mushrooms, gruyère, truffle and soldiers which I had before is incredible too. It’s still a bit of a wait if you want to make a reservation at any sociable hour so expect to book a couple of weeks ahead. I found the staff friendly and attentive (perhaps a little too attentive) despite the fact that I’d read negative reviews. There is a nice bar downstairs which is pretty expensive as you would expect of any bar 38 floors up and the people are a real mix of those after the novelty of a great view. It’s so much better than going on the London Eye and you basically get a meal thrown in and the lift ride is worth it alone.
