Dalston Lane Cafe – Hackney Downs

Dalston Lane Cafe is a caff in the proper sense of the word. Greasy spoon style with nice little wooden tables, chequered table cloths serving straightforward bacon sandwiches none of this avocado on toasted sourdough with pine nuts crap. It’s so beautifully simple and working-class English, I love the Heinz Ketchup and HP sauce bottles on all the tables. The more I explore cafes the more I love how uninfluenced the Dalston Lane Cafe is, I guess that’s its winning formula. For those out there who still would rather a good old fashioned full English fry-up then this is the place to come. I have quite a few friends who would call the Dalston Lane Cafe a favourite. There is something very comforting about knowing exactly what you’re gonna get and that you can probably be full up and well fuelled with caffeine for little over a fiver.
