The Haberdashery – Crouch End

Whenever I would visit my friend in Orange County in Southern California it was a ritual to pay a visit to a great little cafe called the Gypsy Den. I would get the same thing every time, hot spiced apple cider and a slice of apple pie. When I went to the Haberdashery in Crouch End the other day all these memories came flooding back as they have the best hot apple cider here and delicious apple and cinnamon muffins, I love anything with apple and cinnamon in it. The Haberdashery is a great cafe, it’s so comforting. It’s lovely and colourful and full of random clutter which you feel has accumulated over the years. I love the bunting (I can’t really believe I’m saying that but I do, my tastes usually run to dark to include multi-coloured bunting), fairy lights, old fashioned crockery and mismatched wall tiles salvaged from old Victorian fireplaces. They sell sweets in jars, just like I would get as a kid from the corner shop. My mum would only let me have 10p worth, I guess I can thank her for the fact I still have all my teeth then.
